How do bike protectors work?
Every impact protector works in the same way: Impact forces are distributed over a wider area by high-quality material and can thus be attenuated. The material also prevents abrasions and keeps sharp foreign objects out.
In general, this also means that all bike protectors work in the same way: During a fall, the forces acting on the body are distributed over a larger area and thus mitigated. In addition, abrasions are prevented and injuries caused by sharp objects are avoided.
Modern protectors are characterized not only by their protection, but also by their light weight and high freedom of movement. The integrated pads such as the D3O consist mostly of foams, which harden in the event of an impact and thus dampen the forces acting, but are usually flexible and thus comfortable to wear.
MTB, DH, Enduro – what protectors do you need?
First and foremost, you need elbow pads and knee pads. This isn't the only protection that you'll require; however, bike helmets, cycling glasses or gloves for cycling are usually not classified as a "protector", even if high-quality protectors are integrated. Make sure you equip all of the aforementioned, if you want to bike safely.
What's worth paying attention to?
First of all, you should make sure to wear protectors at all to protect yourself. But not all protectors are the same.
Not just for your protection, but also for the longevity of the products, we recommend buying solely from reputable manufacturers. Especially the Fox protectors, ION protectors and the Singletrack as well as MT500 series of Endura offer high-quality protection in the best possible brand quality.
